A Surrey resident since 1993, Bruce attended Ryerson Politechnic University College, taking marketing and business management and is currently preparing for certification as a Certified Marketing Executive. Bruce is a managing partner of thornleyHAYNE Creative Communications,Surrey’s largest full-service advertising and design agency. The agency was listed in the Business inVancouveras one of the top 10 design agencies inBritish Columbia.
Part of the Mayor’s Red Tape Advisory Committee , he understands that needless bureaucracy is a significant barrier to the growth of small businesses and to new jobs.
He believes that Surrey’s innovative approaches to job creation are working – Surrey was the first city in BC to establish economic investment zones and the Real Estate Investment Network recently named Surrey the Best Place to Invest in BC and the 4th inCanada.
The fact thatSurreyhas 7,800 acres of parks and wildlife areas and that 35% of its land base is agricultural demonstrates that a balanced approach to creating new jobs and protecting farmland is working.
His community involvement includes: Director, BC Summer Games Organizing Committee; the Mayor’s Red Tape Reduction Committee; Director, Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation; Past President of the Surrey Board of Trade; and, Past Chair of the Surrey Meth Amphetamine Regional Taskforce and the Board of trade’s Education Advisory Committee.

Bruce lives in Cloverdale with his wife Joyce and two children.
He is a member of the non-partisan Surrey First team.
